Stephen Mallick is a Tasmanian based artist currently living in Canberra. Stephen studied drawing and painting under the inspirational Tasmanian artist and educator Bunty Houston. Stephen is a natural draughtsman and painter; his drawing and painting possess a powerful and intuitive line and strong; lyrical qualities. Stephen uses traditional approaches to painting world. His work is characterised by great vitality and tension, an energetic and lyrical freedom with oil paint, and an effective melding of accessible, representation subject matter with vital abstract qualities in the work.
