Water & Glass
Andrea Morucchio & Ann Holt

Andrea Morucchio
Percer-Voir
2002
Glass points, steel
H: 120 cm (average)
$25,000.00

This sculptural installation can be installed in a range of locations. The individual points are fitted to metal bases and are fixed directly into an earth, gravel or sand base. Andrea has exhibited the Percer-Voir series in various circumstances, arrangements and quantities - from European coastlines to grand C15th mansions & the Murano glass museum (Venice). In March 2003, for the inaugural 10 Days on The Island festival, Andrea installed 14 individual glass points into the pond of the Japanese Garden at the Royal Hobart Botanical Gardens - so that the glass shards emerged dramatically from the reflective surface of water. The glass forms are exhibited here to evoke qualities of the island landscape – poplar trees on rolling hills & highways in the Midlands of Tasmania or the sentinel forms of a rocky coast - changing with light & viewing perspective: an ‘ethereal presence’ of pure glass and light.

Ann Holt
Circumnavigating the Island
2001
Oil on Canvas
30 panels, each H: 86 x W: 101.7
$75,000.00

Circumnavigating the Island is a 30 metre panoramic landscape painting comprising thirty panels, each approximately 1 metre wide, that carries the viewer on a journey around the shoreline of North Bruny Island. The view surveys three distinct waterways: the D’Entrecasteaux Channel looking westward; the Derwent River in the north; and Storm Bay which extends into the Southern Ocean off the eastern shoreline.

As this work depicts a specific landscape and in acknowledgement of the history of the island and in the spirit of reconciliation, an apology is made to the traditional owners, the Nuenonne, who called this place Lunnawannalonna.
