GRAHAM LANG recently returned to live in Tasmania after his first visit 24 years ago, Graham Lang held his first solo show at Despard in 2014; the exhibition titled Full Circle exhibited works produced over a 10 year period and was the most successful first solo exhibition by any artist at Despard. This exhibition is a stepping-stone into some key themes and imagery that prevail through his work. The preview brings together his figurative and animal based pieces that Graham refers to as ‘intuitive totems’, these creatures as Graham describes are often symbolic references to existential conditions, be it personal or political.
