Sooner or Later, the Future is Now
2 May – 27 May 2018
Opening Wednesday 2 May 5.30pm
“Nature is another of ourselves and its vastness is a reflection of all that exceeds us. We need to study nature for those who know the most know how small our real knowledge is, and how vast is the extent of our ignorance.
Everything about our human world is fragile, yet the continuity of human life is at the behest of careless exploration of the fragile forces and foundational structures of the natural world.”
The exhibition, ‘Sooner or Later, the Future is Now’, continues artist Mary Scott’s work into the interdependence of humans and natural world. She will exhibit a suite of large-scale charcoal drawings of figures, posed within shadowy settings, and a collection of small sculptures crafted from recycled glass objects and synthetic plants. The drawings and sculptures will impart a sense of vulnerability and preciousness and, instil awareness of our relationship to the natural world.
