A fine Japanese silver tea service, c
1895-1905. Artist unknown but impressed under each piece - fine Iris
repose design with Iris flowers in high relief, stunning detail and
very fine condition , 5 pieces the tray by another maker finely
decorated with dragon motifs to sides and handles.
Originally sold through Arthur and Bond - Yokohama - this is the finest
example we have seen of Japanese silver of this period - it is
understandable how strongly the "Japanesque Style" influenced makers
such as Tiffany who created many pieces directly influenced from the
Japanese from C.1870 onwards.
