Todd Jenkins is an artist and educator form Hobart, Tasmania. In 1990 he was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, majoring in painting. Over the last twenty years, Jenkins has exhibited throughout Australia in numerous solo and curated group exhibitions. His work is held in private collections throughout Australia, as well as China, Singapore, Switzerland and the USA.
“Through thin layered veils of paint, my work aims to reveal the subtle intricacies that resonate within the Tasmanian landscape, using abstraction to interpret atmospheric changes and represent the passing of time. Here, shadows float on the surface and hover like dragonflies, and subtle nuances of light transform into colour and pattern. Submerged in the mystery and intrigue of these landscapes is the essential need for spiritual connection and the impulse for human response.” – Todd Jenkins, October 2019
Endemic is Jenkins’ fifth major solo exhibition with Despard Gallery, opening November 2019, continuing his unique interpretations of Tasmania’s environmental assets and helping to draw attention to the fragile beauty that underpins the Tasmanian landscape experience.
