Despard Gallery would like to congratulate the talented artists that have been selected in the Bay Of Fires Art Prize. Tasmanian artists George Kennedy, Anne Morrison, Lisa Garland, Milan Milojevic & Rosanagh May have all been announced as finalists for this year’s prize which celebrates the theme ‘everyday miracles’. With a range of creative approaches, each artist has a highly distinctive practice and a unique contribution to the contemporary art scene in Tasmania. This includes celebrating the unique attributes that make Tasmania such a remarkable place and endless source of inspiration.
The acquisitive award, with a prize money of $20,000 celebrates all forms of creative expression, from painting, ceramic, sculpture and photography.
The winning artist will be announced at the opening night and finalist exhibition on Friday 5 June, held in the historic town of St Helens. The finalist’s exhibition will be on display from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 June.
