Despard Gallery is excited to announce our return to the Melbourne Art Fair in 2020 with a solo exhibition by renowned Tasmanian artist Patrick Hall.
Acknowledged as Australia’s longest running art fair, the biannual Melbourne Art Fair (MAF) has built a reputation around stimulating significant critical and commercial success for contemporary artists and galleries nationally. Carefully curated down to only 50 of the most respected galleries, MAF is regarded as a key innovative platform to view iconic works of art by Australia’s leading contemporary practitioners.
Patrick Hall is one of Tasmania’s most significant living artists, his works are found in public spaces around the city and on permanent display at MONA and the TMAG, Despard Gallery will be presenting a major installation at the MAF, works that are ongoing from his sensational series ‘If they should accidentally fall’ from Dark Mofo 2019.
Individual wall mounted sculptures are compelling, each illuminated to revealing a narrative text over slow moving etched faces and fantasy creatures constructed from collected animal bones and LED enhanced Animalia
