Despard Gallery is excited to announce the upcoming solo exhibition ‘Bush Of Ghosts’, by contemporary ceramic artist Jenny Orchard. Jenny Orchard was born in Turkey, grew up in Zimbabwe and now lives in Sydney. Her distinctive ceramic works are simultaneously strange, familiar, organic and peculiar, morphing eccentric figures with vegetative elements. Characterised through bold colours, multiple textures and floral adornments, Orchard captures the awkward collision between art and the fragile future of biogenetics. Inspired by native Australian fauna and flora, decorative traditions and postmodernism, her beautiful and vibrant mutations lament the loss of species and biological changes caused through environmental disruption.
