Patrick Hall - Made Of Broken Pieces

Preview of solo exhibition Made Of Broken Pieces, by Patrick Hall

22 September – 16 October

Despard Gallery is excited to  present a sneak peek at the highly anticipated upcoming solo exhibition by established Tasmanian contemporary artist, Patrick Hall.

Making up this remarkable exhibition, his first locally in over eight years, Hall will be presenting a new series of significant wall and floor-based sculptures alongside framed works on paper, all rich in storytelling that capture a sense of curiosity and wonder. Characteristic to Hall’s works is an interdisciplinary approach, which stems from studying both printmaking and furniture design at university. This process continues to distinguish Hall from other contemporary artists and furniture makers alike, with a seamless capacity to combine contrasting disciplines into each work. In doing so, Hall has created a new hybrid genre that retains the essence of the applied arts, with works that are either interactive, functional or even both, along with the thought-provoking depth of contemporary sculpture, incorporating lighting, audio recordings, kinetic elements, found materials together with poetic verse.
