Despard Gallery is proud to share emerging artist Jonny Scholes is currently exhibiting a new installation as part of Hobart Current.
Held in conjunction between the City Of Hobart and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Hobart Current is a major biennial creative program showcasing contemporary artists across a range of new media.
Appointed creative co-directors Denise Robinson and Travis Tiddy have selected ten artists who have each been commission to create works specifically for the interactive exhibition. Developed around the theme of HERE, the exhibition and creative program explores ‘time and place’ reflecting on how we live, exchange and imagine in an era of fragmentation.
Recently introduced into the Despard Gallery stable, Jonny Scholes has created an interactive work that spans multiple locations across Hobart and TMAG. Titled The Department of Truth Scholes artwork explores ideas around the how we consume information online and our ability to determine factuality within a digital future.
Scholes will be part of an artist discussion panel to talk about his work hosted at TMAG in the central gallery from 12pm Friday 14 November.
