Despard Gallery is pleased to share an exciting new exhibition at Good Grief Studios featuring emerging artist Liam Ross Baker.
This special off-site exhibition features a new suite of major paintings by Baker, fresh off the back of his recent introduction into the gallery stable alongside fellow artist Joshua Andree as part of our Young Bloods series. My Backyards continues Baker’s exploration of the familiar, drawing out sense of the uncanny through paint, contrasting monochromatic figures against whimsical backdrops built up with rich colour and texture. These dualities help to emphasise the conflicted nature of his subjects, underpinned by a sense of unease that reflects broader social anxieties.
