Jo Chew is currently based in Sydney however trained at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart. Her paintings often explore ideas of vulnerability and our dependence on structures and others around us. Despard has represented Jo Chew since 2011, her work is diverse, colourful and painterly. Jo Chew uses collage, the construction of maquettes influenced by stage design, and collected source images and stories as a starting point for series’ of paintings.
