23 July – 16 August 2025
Personify brings together five very different artists whose practices intersect in their exploration of the figure. This includes all the ways contemporary visual representations of the body can challenge personal, social, and political understanding. Through a range of media, including photography, painting and sculpture, the exhibition examines key attributes of depicting the human form, from its formal representation through to a more complex examination of identity and the way we perceive and express ourselves.
This exhibition considers how the figure continues to be an important theme within creative practice to help question both historic and contemporary representations, including its objectification and the gaze. Most importantly, is how the figure and the language of the body within art can help us to be more attuned to our body and senses, as well as evoke a sense of connectedness.
Personify will showcase works by Graham Lang, Micheila Petersfield and Chris Bury, as well as introduce the striking paintings by emerging talent Hamish Wilson.
