Bertie Blackman

‘Bertie Blackman is an artist who constantly re-invents herself. Known to most as the Aria award winning singer, she is also a visual artist. Her work weaves between the real and un-real; her profound imagination and narrative illuminating the characters and places of her unique universe. Bertie’s scratch and smudge of ink technique, the swell and marble of watercolor, take us to a sonic world rich in image and storyline. She has exhibited in Australia and New York and recently co-curated ‘Sonic Canvases’ at the AGNSW. Bertie is the daughter of famous artist, Charles Blackman.’
