Despard Gallery is proud to present the latest video in our Artist Interview Series featuring contemporary Tasmanian artist Patrick Hall. Listen to Hall discuss the influences and processes behind his new body of work and the exclusive use of hand cut paper. Hall also reflects on how art can become a conduit for empathy, as well as help unpack serious global issues. Hall also touches on his use of poetic text to communicate his personal perspective and draw out an emotional response. Sharing personal reflections of his father, who was a decorated war hero, yet an absent presence growing up, Patrick discusses how generational stories have influenced these compelling sculptural works of paper.
