This year we are very proud to announce three talented Despard Gallery artists have been selected in this year Glover Prize. A big congratulations to Jo Chew, Lorraine Biggs and Penny Burnett. Each artist has a unique approach that takes inspiration form the diverse and unique qualities that makes up the Tasmanian landscape.
The acquisitive prize celebrates the legacy of colonial artist John Glover and is judged on the best contemporary landscape painting of Tasmania. Defined in its broadest sense, each landscape painting must aim is to stimulate conversations about the meaning and possibilities expressed in the words landscape, painting and Tasmania. The judges for the Glover Prize 2023 are Director of the Niagara Gallery, William Nuttal; Director Museum of Contemporary Art, Suzanne Cotter (NSW) and artist, Lucienne Rickard.
Winner announced this Friday 10th March.
