Paul Snell

With his first exhibition with Despard Gallery Snell present a new suite of his unique chromogenic prints mounted on plexiglass. Within each work Snell employs multiple digital techniques to create immersive colour fields, expanding the space of photo-based media through abstraction and minimalism . 

Snell is influenced by the modernist artists of the 20th Century, exploring the fundamentals of visual aesthetics, through processes of refinement and reduction, as well as unique colour relationships.  The flawless surface of each artwork often sits atop of an extrusion of regolith, where the precision of fabricated materials is contrasted against the raw and organic.
