We are proud to present the first solo show of Mathew Simms, here at Despard! In an age of instant news and communication, it is refreshing to encounter an artist’s ‘traditional’ approach to painting, writing and craft, that takes us back to another time where contemplation was an important part of the creative process.
Tasmanian artist Mathew Simms has an unique colour palette and a natural sense of composition, combined with his draftsmanship, some observers of his paintings suggest the images to the 19th century French impressionists.
